AI is changing all industries, including music.
Some platforms let you describe a song, and then they create it for you!
It feels like magic.
AI-generated music is sticking around. While human musicians will still have a place, especially live, AI music will show up more in our lives.
Can we spot AI music? Let’s explore this.
But first…
Does it Matter if a Song was created by AI?
This topic will probably be discussed for the next hundred years, so we should start now.
I believe, and this applies to all AI-made media, that there’s a right moment for AI music and a different one for music made by humans.
As a musician, I can say nothing beats the joy of playing and singing with a group of fellow musicians (I’m from Ireland, where traditional music is deeply rooted in the culture).
However, I think it’s fine if people enjoy AI music.
In some cases, we might not want AI music, so can we identify it?
How to Tell if a Song is AI or Not?
There are two ways to find out if online media was created by AI.
First, trust your gut feeling.
Consider asking these questions:
- Is there passion in the singer’s voice?
- Are there strange glitches in the music?
- Do the lyrics make sense?
- Are there awkward or odd phrases that don’t fit?
- Does the song bring out emotions in a genuine way, or does it feel flat and robotic?
As time goes on, distinguishing between music made by AI and that made by humans will get harder.
AI detection tools can help identify if media content is AI-generated.
Best AI Music Detectors
These tools are clearly just starting out since AI-generated music is still a fresh concept. Most AI music detectors aren’t available to the public; they’re mostly for musicians checking for copyright violations. When I make AI music, I typically use the Suno platform. It’s user-friendly, and I made a track named “Montreal Nights.”
AI-created music can occasionally sound good, but it often misses the emotional touch. As mentioned earlier, tools to detect AI music aren’t widely accessible yet. However, I came across one that functions effectively, named Icram Amplify.
To start, I registered, selected the AI Music Detector feature, and then uploaded my track.

I was surprised to find that my result came only as a JSON file. I had to dig into the code to see it. The result said the song was definitely AI-generated, but it wasn’t easy to understand.
You could also try tools like Pex and TuneCore AI.
If your song has singing, you might use a tool like Play HT to detect AI voices.
What about AI Images? Can you Detect them?
AI applications such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and Canva now make it possible to generate images with artificial intelligence. They’re user-friendly; simply describe the picture you envision.
But, are you able to tell if images are genuine or crafted by AI?
At Winston AI, we’ve developed a tool that identifies AI-produced images. You can test it by signing up above.
As shown in the image below, just upload your picture or paste the image URL, and you’ll receive a prediction about whether it’s AI-generated or not.

I made an AI image, and it got recognized as AI-generated.
Can AI Website Content be Detected?
AI tools such as ChatGPT are widely used for creating text. Individuals leverage AI to compose:
- Emails
- Blog posts
- Essays
- Reports
Is the text on websites made by AI?
Well, checking is easy now.
Just sign up for Winston AI, and you’ll see.
We catch AI-written text 99.98% of the time.
To test website text, try our Chrome Extension tool. You’ll see it’s human-written! I promise I didn’t use AI for this.
The Future of Music and AI
I think there’s a spot for AI in music. Some artists might disagree, but AI tools are growing fast and won’t stop.
Artists deserve some way to earn from their work, especially since AI can copy it. We’ll have to wait for the courts to figure this out.
AI is just a tool and can’t replace humans completely. People will always make music that speaks to others. AI will change how music is made, and musicians will need to adapt, just like everyone else, to make music that is meaningful and deep for others.
